Lead Stars Revealed for Fifty Shades Film [★]

Tuesday, September 03, 2013

Finally, the word is out. Stars who would play the lead roles of the much anticipated film adaptation of the erotica book Fifty Shades of Grey have been named.

Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson are set to play the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele of the Fifty Shades series. The author of the books herself, E.L. James, tweeted about this yesterday and expressed that she is happy to make this announcement.

I have read the first two books of the series (and I am still almost half-way on the third one and I don't know when I'll pick up that book again). All I can say is that it's not as bad as how other people rant about it, and it's also not as good as how some people spazz about it. The material originated as a fanfiction published in livejournal in 2011 and has gained a large following ever since. It became more popular after it was published as a book.

I remember me and my sister purchased this book way before it became a hit in the bookstores. We even had to reserve copies because only a few ones were left on the shelves. The first installment was kinda addicting to read, because it was a whole new genre for me. However on the second book, I had to struggle reading through it because I had too much of the sex content. I had hoped the theme would move on and be different with the third one, but unfortunately it did not so I had no choice but to drop the book half-way and move on to the next one on my reading list.

Now, the plans for the movie version have started to roll. I am just glad that fresh faces were taken for the much coveted roles. I confess I am one of the thousands of girls who fantasized Ian Somerhalder to be Christian Grey, and also I am one of the millions of girls who despised Kristen Stewart to land the Anastasia Steele role. So I am both disappointed, and delighted with the casting results. :p

Charlie and Dakota would be on the hot seats starting now. I hope they'd do well in the film. :)
