Time and time again, I am being reminded by how much music is part of my life. This artform has always been with me through the happy and the sad times, and it's something that I'm thankful for that exists in this world. 🎶✨
During the long weekend, I found myself accompanied by music as I drove around the city. I never thought I would find driving as a very meditative activity. 😁 I really got to enjoy driving around during this time because there was light traffic on the road, while listening to my playlist in the car.
I happened to listen to one of Ariana Grande's songs entitled "Twilight Zone" during that road trip. I have already heard of it before, but something about that moment made me feel a different way about this song. Can I add that it also drizzled a bit during that drive? So it really added to the dramatic effect of that journey.
And so as soon as I got back home, I went straight to my keyboard (which was already collecting dust in my room's corner 😂) and started to work. A few hours later, I took my laptop and found myself working on the Reaper software as I tried to capture in MIDI the notes that I played on the piano. This progressed and became a whole day affair, but surprisingly, I was not at all drained or stressed. I guess I really enjoy the process of creating music. 🥰 I tried my best to make the piano accompaniment to the track (chords is power 🔥) and then a few more hours after recorded some vocals for it (take a seat for now, Ariana 🤣).
And here's the output.
This is what I managed to produce after hours of work. It's not the perfect product, but I'm not after perfection. I'm after progress. I was able to review how to use the software and also refreshed myself with some basic audio mixing techniques (which I learned in a workshop years and years ago). I want to continue studying this so I can somehow improve my craft.
Listening to this song and trying to recreate it in my own way is my method of releasing some emotions to the Universe. I am reminded of how cathartic it is to do this. I am thankful to have the resources like the time, equipment, and knowledge to create this. I really enjoyed doing this! I was reminded of the things that bring me joy. 🥰
Please enjoy the track the way I enjoyed making it.
