During that one week off from work that I had before heading on to my new work, I had the leisure to go out and see Japanese movies for free at Shangrila Plaza Mall (along Shaw Boulevard) as part of an Eiga Sai event.
Eiga Sai, or Japanese Film Festival, is held every year by the Japan Foundation, Manila as part of the Philippines-Japanese Friendship month festivities. In this event, an array of Japanese films (with English subtitles of course) are shown at various cinemas in the country for a week. Check out the schedule here for this year's film festival.
I have come to know Eiga Sai when I was still in UP Diliman, because the Film Center is one of those cinemas where the films are being shown. A free admission movie is proved to be a crowd catcher, and that was first the main reason why I got exposed to the event. I remember walking by the film center then seeing the cinema signage at the front with the movie title below the 'NOW SHOWING' sign, and below it with bold letters the words 'FREE ADMISSION'. Even with exams the next day, me and my boardmates would go check what movie would be showing for each night. xD Each film showed the diverse and unique culture that Japan has. You would see that those are not commercialized films, and I could compare them to the indie films that we do here in the Philippines.
Here are some of the wonderful movies that I got to see in the festival in the past years.

I've recently mentioned on the blog that I'm transferring to a new workplace and that before that, I had my (well-deserved!) one-week vacation. This week, I already started on my new one and I must say things went more interesting than I imagined it to be.
There's a lot to say about my new "place of labor". Comparisons with my previous one are inevitable for me, so I just had them listed down here.
Reporting Time to Work
I think this is the primary difference of my new work from my previous one. Let's just say that my new schedule makes me feel like I've been brought back to my elementary and highschool days. xD I have to wake up extra early from now on when going to work.
There are advantages with this kind of schedule actually. I go early to work so I get to return to home early too. Also, I get to avoid the rush hour so there's less traffic when I'm on the road.
Of course, there are downsides too. I'm a night owl at heart so it is really frustrating for me to feel SO sleepy at as early as 5PM. My eyes are already feeling heavy and my brain feels overused and exhausted. -___- Also, I can't meet with friends after work anymore because by the time I get off from work, they are just having their snack break at their offices. xD

I have been looking forward to watching this new talent show on local tv, not just because I loved The Voice US but also because the most awesome judges would be appearing on this show.
I adore Lea so much. Her role as a judge is the main reason why I wanted to religiously tune in to the show. I am curious on how she would select singers and which voices would suit her taste.
The show started airing on Philippine free TV on June 15, 2013. The show, as expected, has garnered high interest among audiences as certified by the hashtags about the show that trended on Twitter.
Unfortunately, I was not able to catch all of the episodes when it aired so I am just catching up on iwanttv.com for all the episodes that I have missed. :)
As the show goes on, more talented singers are coming into light. It was the most brilliant idea to create a singing competition with such a unique format, that is all about the voice - no discrimination of what your appearance, age, race, and even sexual preference.
Also, it helped a lot that Ms. Lea Salonga herself is participating in the show as a judge. Because of the fair nature of the show and the prestigious set of judges, many aspiring singers have taken the courage to join in a national tv singing contest. The show catered a lot of first-timers with fresh talents to show.
I am really enjoying the Blind Auditions right now, and I believe things would become more exciting when The Battles begins on the show. :)
Good luck to all the aspiring contestants! :D

This song is one of my favorites that Yonghwa (of CNBLUE, a kpop band) composed because I have witnessed how this song came to be during the reality show We Got Married wherein Yonghwa and Seohyun (of SNSD) participated. I've been meaning to do a cover of this on the piano for the longest time, as requested by a friend, but I didn't have the time. Now that I'm on my one-week vacation, I decided to finish this at last.
This is the first song that I arranged myself. I'm happy that I didn't use a music sheet to get this one done. :D
