It's not everywhere that we find a signal for wifi network. That's why it's still advantageous to be subscribed to an unlimited data plan. Alternatively this is also available to prepaid subscribers with a rate of Php10 per 30 minutes of connection.
For Android users that are Globe subscribers and want to connect the internet via the mobile network, here's the APN settings that worked for my phone which is an HTC Wildfire S running on Android 2.3.5.
Name: [you can put any name here]
APN: www.globe.com.ph
Proxy: 203.177.42.214
Port: 8080
Authenitcation Type: PAP
APN Type: default
Leave the other fields with their default values. With these settings you can now connect to the globe mobile network and surf the internet.

For the month of July, I was one of those Globe subscribers who availed of their one-month long promo of free access to mobile Twitter. Through this, I got to explore the settings of mobile network on my phone. This information could be helpful for other subscribers of the network so I decided to make a post about it. :)
[UPDATE]: Many have found this post helpful and I'm glad that this setting worked for you. As for those asking, I'd reiterate points here that have been asked several times by blog visitors *see long list of comments below*
- You need balance to be able to surf using this setting.
- Internet connection using this setting may be very sloooow.
- I recommend to use Opera Mini Browser when using this setting.
- I have tried this setting only on a Globe simcard.
I haven't used this on a TM, but maybe it would work too. Just try it yourself. :D

[UPDATE (July 19, 2013)]
Hi guys. I've tried using this setting for 3G recently and to my surprise, it was not working and displayed 'Invalid APN Setting'. I am not sure what happened but it was connecting properly before. Maybe Globe modified the network setting?
Anyway, please continue sending your feedback. I hope this becomes fixed soon.
[UPDATE (October 27, 2013)]
I think it's working again! I tried to connect again from my phone today and no error was displayed. I was able to load a page (twitter.com) but the connection is still too slow. :O
[UPDATE April 24, 2015]
So I received this advisory from Globe, and by the looks of it, you won't be needing to set up any setting or configuration on your phone to start mobile surfing! Read their advisory below:
Experience a new way of surfing with Globe Prepaid! Now you can go online automatically using your phone even without configuring the internet settings. To avoid unexpected charges, turn on SurfAlert. This FREE service will put browsing on hold when your device tries to connect online and you're not registered to a surf promo. For info, dial *143# > My Account > Mobile Internet Usage. You can also turn off your cellular data in your phone settings. Have a wonderful day!I have not tried this myself. Have you? Share your experience on the comments below. :D

ReplyDeleteIn my phone (HTC Wildfire S), the above settings can be applied by going to
Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names
then choose 'New APN' in the Menu.

Deletepaano sa cloudfone thril 430x. im not that techie :( help!
Delete@Anthony: Please don't post your mobile number here. As for your question, try surfing the internet after connecting via Mobile Network and see if the page would load.
Delete@kim: Maybe there's something written in your phone's manual for that. :)
just wanna know if i can also use this setting if im using TM sim card?
DeleteI haven't tried that but I think it should work too, since Globe and TM are of the same telco.
DeleteOMG THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!! /sobs/ lol. 3g worked !!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous:
DeleteYou're welcome! Happy surfing! (>^ω^<)
there is no default on my APN type...
ReplyDelete-Internet + MMS
-Internet
-MMS
those are the choices... I'm using galaxy Y
@Anonymous:
DeleteI am not that familiar with the config on other phones. On mine, the APN type is a text field and you just have to type the words "default" on it.
Hmmm. I suggest you try all three of them and see if one works.
THANKS! i got it working... :D
DeleteI used the Internet as the APN type...
one more question.. can it be used to connect the apps to the internet?
@Anonymous:
DeleteYes it can. It will work just like when you are connected on a wifi network with internet access. The speed of the connection will just depend on the 3G signal in your location.
You're welcome! :)
pano naman ung MCC and MNC?
DeleteOh, I have no idea. Sorry.
Deletehow's the speed of the connection?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous:
DeleteThat would really depend on your location. As for my experience, loading and posting on my twitter timeline would take at least 10 seconds (I'm in Manila). I really haven't tried surfing the internet or logging in on FB via 3G so I don't have a rough idea on the general speed of the connection.
wow fast connection... loading google is taking me years... :(
Delete@Anonymous:
Delete0.0 Try surfing the net during the wee hours of the morning. Usually it's faster during that time. If it's still slow, then it's really in the signal in your location. Maybe you could report that to Globe, so that they can improve their service in your area. :D
what time is the wee hours?
Deletehaha.. reporting slow cheated connection on globe... XD
It means during the very early hours of the morning (1:00AM - 6:00AM for me). The connection gets faster I think because most people are asleep and are not online therefore there's less traffic in the internet highway. :D
DeleteHehe. Good luck! ^________^
yah i iagree with that... ok thanks.. :D
Deleteit helped me a lot thanks do you know how to fix this for facebook? api.facebook.com[java.net.UknownHostException]
ReplyDelete@Rusty Al Mercado
DeleteSorry, no. :( I have not encountered that error yet.
TY TY :)
DeleteHi Arvin. Never ako hiningan ng username at password eh, kaya di ko masasagot yang tanong mo. Sorry!
Delete@katalina
ReplyDeletethanks for this, hapi na ang new year ko! :
@bajoi!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! :)
I cannot set up outgoing email of globe for xperia go. tried the setting they gave but ain't working
ReplyDelete@ Anonymous:
DeleteHi! This setting applies only for the internet connection. Unfortunately, I have not yet discovered a valid setup for emails on an Android.
GOT IT....... THANKS using S.E.WALKMAN rooted to gingerDX 2.3.7
ReplyDeleteWelcome! Enjoy surfing! :)
Deletewhat browser do you use?
ReplyDeletedo you use the default internet or installed other browsers..
and can you use viber with it? >:)
I've tried using the default internet browser, but it was soooo slow. Try installing Opera Mini Browser. Pages load faster with it. :)
DeleteI haven't actually tried it, but Viber should work too.
Deleteworked for me although its kinda slow...
ReplyDeleteI know! That's why I use it mainly for Twitter only. :p
DeleteTnx s info!!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome! :)
DeleteDo i need an extra load to activate apn?
ReplyDeleteBy 'activate apn' you mean setting up the values above? No, you don't need load to do that. Just access the settings on your phone and set up the values indicated. You'd only need load once you connect to 3G via those settings.
DeleteThe browser is fine i can connect to the internet but the apps can't.
ReplyDeleteHow's the connection in the browser? Maybe the data connection is just too slow for the apps to load.
Deletehi is this for unlimited internet?
ReplyDeleteor kailangan ko mag maintain ng load or what? :)
thanks!
This can be used for either regular or unlimited subscription. Pag nag-subscribe ka sa FB-all-day ng Globe halimbawa, pwede to. Pag regular load, P5/30mins(?) ang rate.
DeleteI did it as what you've instructed. But still I cant access on web. Do I have to register on Globe? Or it's for free?
ReplyDeleteNo, you don't have to register. However, you'll need load to access the internet using this setting.
Deleteworking po buh 2 ?
ReplyDeleteKaka-try ko lang ngayon. Yup gumagana pa din naman. :)
Deleteis it working also to sony xperia S phone? thanks!
ReplyDeleteYes. This setting is for any Android device.
Deleteit is applicable also for globe promos like alltxt20 ung my free fb for 2 days??
ReplyDeleteYes, I think so. Eto ginamit ko nung may promo pa ang globe na twitter-all-day for P10.
Deletecan you access without any balance?
ReplyDeleteNo. Minimum required balance is P5.00 to be able to access the internet (for 15 minutes I think).
Deletebkit d q n poh maopen ung opera mini s cp q..?tama nman ung apn s settings ., dti kc gmit q n browser UC browser ., pero ngmit q nmn ung opera mini ngayon d xa mainstall ., no internet connection dw ., help poh ., tnx ., !!!!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteSorry, I haven't tried using VPN. Maybe you could refer to this link instead:
Deletetechrepublic.com/blog/smartphones/securely-connect-your-android-smartphone-via-vpn/3321
Currently, GPRS ang connection niya. Pero yung isa kong kasama rito sa bahay 3.5G... Would you know why kaya? :)
ReplyDeletePareho kayong Globe? I'm not entirely sure about this, pero maybe it depends on the phone kung gano kalakas yung sagap niya ng signal. Pwede ring nagfa-fluctuate yung network. Try to restart the phones kung ganun pa din ang sagap signals nila.
DeleteThank you so much!
ReplyDeleteAlternatively you can use the following proxies:
Proxy: 203.177.10966
Port: 8080
Proxy:3417385686
Port: 8080
Apparently it's faster.
You're welcome! Anyone out there who have already tried using these proxies? You can also give your feedback here. :) Anyway thanks! I'll try them and see if they would work for me.
DeleteThankyou! Anyway.
Meron ang Globe ngayon, yung SOCIAL SURF BUNDLE na all-day unlimited access to FB, Twitter and Multiply. Just text SOCIAL20 to 8888.
Deleteayaw gumana panu ba ?
ReplyDeleteHi! Everything that you need to know is on the post. Just try connecting again.

ReplyDeleteNot working -___-
ReplyDeletePwede po ba sa xperia sl yan?
ReplyDeletewala ba kinalaman ang sim card? Kya ayaw gumana skin? Ty
ReplyDeleteThanks for this info Jeff!
Deletehow to set up on htc butterfly..I followed the steps above but still connection failed due to incorrect APN setting
ReplyDeleteHi! As I've mentioned above, this setting seems to be not working anymore as of the latest trial that I did (07/19/2013). I guess we just have to look out for updates from Globe as they may have changed the setting.
Deletejust got my blackberry q5, 300mb for a month powersurf un ni-subscribe ko.. nag ddisconect sya and i have to turn off and on the data option.. bakit ganun? and ambilis magbawas ng KB kahit sobrang saglit lang ako ng facebook at onting bbm chat lang nagawa ko...
ReplyDeleteHi Ruby!
ReplyDeleteHi Chris!
DeleteI think I just need to thank you for this :)
ReplyDeleteJust got my new smartphone and not much of this phone in Philippines (Oppo R819), its a really great phone but the Data Settings (APN) is not ready here (unlike my Note 2), looked for several threads, post and blogs til I found this one. Apparently, the Configuration Settings sent by globe doesn't accept the default PIN which is "1234" so I need to configure it Manually. Thanks for this! 3G is now working in my phone :)
Hi Ivan! You're welcome! How's the connection speed on yours? It's still too slow on my phone, takes lots of time to load a standard webpage.
DeleteHey guys, who to hack sim Internet?is the any way?
ReplyDeleteUsing a galaxy's3 (i9300) ROOTED running cyanomod ROM v10.1.3 ... Cant seenm to connect to data. With agh I've settings.. Any idea if there how to solve! Thanks
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing this!!!! fast internet for my globe postpaid!!!
ReplyDeletepano sa xperia z? :(
ReplyDeleteHi!
Deletetnx for this po :)
ReplyDeleteyou're totally an angel for me., thought I would be wasting my load balance just to connect on the net. so i have to do a research just to solve this shitty proxy authentication error. :D thnx
ReplyDeleteWorkint till now?
ReplyDeleteStill.it doesn't work? :3
ReplyDeletesometimes, it really takes so slow to browse the internet on globe. but i understand that!
ReplyDeletebut compared to any other networks. GLOBE IS THE BEST AND COULD BE BETTER :) I LOVE GLOBE! :)
Good for you! :D
DeleteThanks for the list of proxies - they are becoming more and more important in todays climate just to access basic sites such as twitter.com. Another one to mention, which I currently use, as it always enforces access 1337x in UK
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear your thoughts! ✨
