It's been a while since I last wrote a travel post. My backlog goes as far back as six years ago, but I will do my best to catch up on them. 😅 And so, I will be writing about my most recent travel first, then I guess I will work backwards. A friend told me that I should write about a travel experience as soon as possible because the memories are still fresh. And so, I am following that advice here.
Going to Vietnam has always been one of the travel goals of my circle of friends. We would always mention it to each other, but we never actually did anything about it. We all know a travel plan only comes to life once the flight tickets have been booked. Well, that definitely held true for this one when one of my friends suddenly created a group chat for the trip. He already had our passport details from previous trips. 😂 He is that friend who is always checking for flight sales. We already had a date range in mind for the travel, so when he saw a sale for that flight, he booked all of us and then created the group chat. 💪
Vietnam is our first international trip where the five of us in our circle are complete! The last time we were complete was just for a local trip to Sagada.
I was really looking forward to this trip because:
- It was our first international trip where the gang was complete.
- It was my first time in Vietnam.
- I was eager to escape reality. 😂 (I knew all of us were.)
Honestly, Vietnam probably wouldn't have been on my travel list if not for these friends. If I were traveling solo, I would probably stick to my favorite countries (Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan). So I'm grateful to these friends because they're giving me opportunities to try something new. Visiting Vietnam also came at the perfect time because my parents have recently become fans of Vietnamese cuisine, so I was curious how the food would taste in the country itself.
I have traveled several times with these friends, and it still amazes me that I learn something new about them with each trip. They also learn something new about me, and most importantly, I learn something new about myself. I feel like this is really the beauty of traveling with people.
I'm excited to journal about this trip. This is my coping mechanism in action because I'm feeling a bit down now that the travel is over. 😭 I'm itching to book flights for more trips this year, but because of the state of the world today, I need to control my expenses. But who knows, maybe this is also the Universe calling me to just enjoy life to the fullest, without fear, while I'm still here. 😁
