Yay my second Sakuraco box is here! I started my subscription last month for this Japanese artisan snacks that ships straight from Tokyo, Japan! 😀 The details of the July box was officially released on their site at the first day of the month, and just within 7 days, my box got delivered to my doorstep!
Of course as always, I was excited to try each of the snacks that are included in this month's box! I think I got too eager to have a taste of each of them that I broke my own rule and ate more than one snack in a day. 😅 So after less than a week, I only have around 3 snacks left (even forgot to take photos of some of them for this documentation 😅
Here are the snacks that I have tried on the July box, with theme 'Hokkaido Summer':
Melon Mochi
⭐⭐⭐ Must Try
This is the first snack that I tried from the box and wow I was already thoroughly delighted! The melon purée is so yummy, and they even added white chocolate filling! Each mochi melts in the mouth. I also liked that each mochi was individually packed for convenience.
Melon Soft Sand
⭐⭐⭐ Must Try
I love this snack too! Eating this was like munching melon ice cream on a cone. I think I am becoming a melon fan! 🍈
Yubari Melon Cream Sandwich Cookies
⭐⭐ Recommended
This one has a light taste, not so sweet. I like the butter cookies
Yubari Melon Jelly
⭐⭐ Recommended
Based on the snack's description, it was suggested to serve this chilled, but I didn't bother placing it in the fridge. 😂 I straight up ate it was on room temperature. I tasted hints of tamarind, but I could be wrong. Maybe that's the "special ingredients" they added on this jelly. 😁
Hokkaido Milk Cheesecake
⭐⭐ Recommended
The cheesecake tasted great, but I might have been expecting too much about this snack so I'm just giving it two stars. Now I want to go to Hokkaido to try out their cheesecakes in the future.
Some of the other snacks included in the box (that I wasn't able to take photos of 😂) are:
- Kibi Dango - ⭐⭐ Recommended
It tasted similar to the Waraku no Sato Salt Yokan in the June box. This one came in two's again. My dad got the other one. I was watching him when he opened the packaging and I saw him struggling to remove that layer of 'plastic' on the snack. Later on, I read on the booklet included in the box that the snack was wrapped in edible Oblaat. So my experience of eating the snack was easier.
- Hokkaido Grilled Corn Senbei - ⭐⭐⭐ Must Try
I was mildly surprised when I took a bite of this snack, which looked like an ordinary cracker. I was feeling a bit down one day and what better way to cheer myself up than to eat yummy snacks! And with my experience with this snack box so far, there's really nothing 'ordinary' with the snacks included here. And so I took this snack without really paying attention with the label (I couldn't read it anyway lol). So when I took a bite, I was surprised with the corn flavor! Every bite was very savory. I felt cheery afterwards. I want more of this! 😋
- Yawaraka Rum Raisin - ⭐⭐⭐ Must Try
I love raisin! It's again a pleasant discovery that it goes well with rum! This cookie was moist and chewy and every bite was very enjoyable.
- Butter Mochi Senbei - ⭐⭐ Recommended
This is again another enjoyable Senbei which is lightly flavored with butter.
- Hearty Age Mochi - ⭐⭐ Recommended
I thought I was eating some version of healthy chicharon with this one. I can't stop munching. Before I knew it, everything was gone. 😂
- Okina Dorayaki - ⭐ So-so
This is reminiscent with last month's box, Azuki Dorayaki. Maybe it's because I've had enough red beans for the month that's why I was nonchalant eating it. 😅
- Peach Matcha Tea - ⭐⭐⭐ Must Try
Initially I thought there's a tea bag inside so I was slightly when I saw a powder solution come out from the sachet. I also thought it would taste chemically flavored, but I was pleasantly surprised when I took my first sip. I super love it already! I consumed this cold with ice cubes, and I think this is the best way to drink this.
- Milk Mochi - ⭐⭐ Recommended
This is very similar with the Kibi Dango snack, and honestly I didn't taste the difference from that other snack. But still, I enjoyed it. 😋
Just like last month, I thoroughly enjoyed the July box. Now I'm down to my last Sakuraco box. I can't wait for what's in store for August! 😁
