Here we go with episode two of this drama! So far, I'm really enjoying this one!
👧♥ Hiding your fangirling activities from your work colleagues is an understandable sentiment. As I have mentioned previously, I used to have the same mindset, and I am grateful that I actually didn't have it as bad as that of the drama, you know to the extent that I have to pretend to be a normal person so that other people would like me. Eventually I met like-minded people (special mention to Darce and Hazel ✋ LOL) and they eventually made me comfortable to show this side of me to more people. It was so hilarious how Duk-mi badmouthed KPOP idols. I would have said the same exact sentences because I know how outsiders view this unique world of the Korean entertainment.
👩💰💰💰The drama also touches the reality of how rich fangirls operate. We saw Duk-mi and her best friend Lee Seon-joo go check-in in an expensive hotel just to visit the exact suite room that their idol Sian has used. Apparently, this is just the tip of the iceberg of what rich fans will do to fulfill their fangirling aspirations. Uhm So-hye's (the previous director of the Cheom art musem) daughter was heard to have purchased hundreds of albums because she wanted to attend a fansigning event. Apparently, the number of albums a fan buys determines the order of queuing for the event. Of course the more albums you purchased, the more you will be given priority in the queue. It's crazy because this exact scenario plays true in real life. I have seen a Youtube video wherein IU, a Korean singer, met a fan who bought hundreds of copies of her album for a fansign event. I have also seen news about fans here in the country that have spent more than PHP100,000 to secure a slot in a BLACKPINK fanmeet. It's crazy how far these fans will go just to have a connection with their idols. Well if they have the means and this makes them happy, why not right?
⚖🏢🕴👩Duk-mi seems to not have an understanding on how politics work. I somehow understood why Ryan Gold got angry with him about the issue with regards to Mr. Ahn's art exhibition. For me, as much as possible, I shelve my emotions at bay and stick with the policies at my work. I just don't take things too personally. At the end of the day, you go to work to (duh) work and earn money, not to make friends.
😠Can I just say that I am so irritated with Uhm So-hye? The way she talks kinda throws me off, and she's such an eye sore in this drama (that bangs omg). Well these emotions just prove how effective she is as a villain.
👨👩I am liking the fact that our lead characters are mature enough to have confrontations with each other. Like for example, Duk-mi did not hide when she saw Ryan in the cafe (I was expecting her to feel embarrassed to be seen). This just made things less complicated for them.
👨I wish I had a sibling who I could talk sense with and also to help me deal with household duties. Some scenarios demand a certain level of maturity (of which at some point you have to contest your parents' conversations and act as referee between them ). Currently, I have to do things on my own. Well I have to say I am learning a lot of things along the way. But still, sometimes it helps to have someone, with the same mindset, to talk to.
☕Now we are seeing the soft side of the tough Ryan Gold. Apparently he has caffeine allergy, and we discover it the worst way, thanks to Duk-mi's lapse of judgment. I wonder what the root cause of his allergy is? With what I learned with Theta Healing so far, certain diseases come from trauma and negative experiences that we've had in the past, usually during our childhood. In the drama we see Ryan having nightmares in the hospital about something that happened during his childhood. It sure did contribute to this allergy in some way, and that experience made him who he is as an adult.
Episode Rating: ★★★★★
This drama is fulfilling some of my long-time fantasies. I have always wanted to meet an idol that I really really like, not as a fan but someone whom he'll work with. For example, I would want to meet with Lee Minho as an official photographer or as one of the events staff of his fanmeeting event here. 언젠가 일어날 거예요. 😉
[UPDATE (08092020): I decided to abandon watching this one because I have come to the conclusion that I'm not into these kinds of themes anymore. Currently I am more inclined now to thriller and drama, not necessarily the romantic genre. I'm also be going to be on the look-out on the award-winning dramas. I want to watch more dramas similar to My Mister.]
