Life Logs: June 2021

November 21, 2021

You can tell that I really need to do some catching up with these Life Log entries, eh? 😅 Drafting these posts several months after they happened puts me in this position wherein I can do an introspective angle with each event that happened during that period. You can probably tell that, with how I wrote my last ones. There were experiences wherein I already inserted my thoughts and reflections with regards to that past event, coming from my current self. This process is really meditative and therapeutic for me, that's why I'm really loving the process.

And so, here we are in my entry for June this year. 😀

 💃 Experiences
  • Realizing that I am becoming more comfortable with being vulnerable. Echoing from my takeaway last month, this process is part of life's experience. It's scary, but rewarding at the same time. I am just thankful for the people that I have during this time that allowed me to undergo the process and grow from it. 💪
  • Opening up with my mid-life crisis with my inner circle. This has been a challenging period for me, and I really missed face-to-face interactions with my friends. I was feeling lost for some time, and I just became too sensitive with the topic that I knew I had to talk with someone about it. Thanks again to their advice, my path cleared up, even for a tiny bit. Through the virtual conversations, I now have my eyes set on a renewed goal of mine. 🚩
  • Having a five-day (home) vacation. I really looked forward to this break, and I felt the happiest on that workday before my vacation, after I logged off from work. I went ahead and treated myself with a BTS McDo meal while watching Framing Britney Spears. 🍔🍟🥤+👩🎤🎶 I enjoyed it without being guilty of spending because of YNAB, which was one my game changers since last month. 💗
Grateful for these simple things that brought me joy
  • Going back to Spotify Premium. And because now I know my budget range, I was able to calculate that I still have some wiggle room to upgrade my Spotify subscription. Coincidentally, I was qualified for this 3-month-for-129 promo. Now I'm listening again, ad-free! 🎧💕
  • Attending a 3-AM work call. It was an interesting experience, by the way. 😛
  • Experiencing slight side effects of Melatonin. I know I just started popping in pills last month, so I thought I was just adjusting or something. I did some googling and found out that one possible side effect of Melatonin is having feelings similar to depression. For sure this month my mind was foggier than usual, and it was scary. I have never felt that kind of "sadness" before. I didn't know if it was because of the pill or just my mood or just my hormones, but that experience made me more conscious of the effects of the pill. 💊
  • Dressing up for work. If you're like me, we've been working at home for some time now. By this time, we have already established our WAH routines. However, it's still interesting to change things up a bit just to have some variety with our day. So for this month, I tried "dressing up" everyday for work. It was fun doing my makeup (most of them have expired already 😭) and to wear my office clothes again (most of them still fits 😅).

⛰️ Accomplishments / Milestones
  • I made an investment, all thanks to YNAB again. 💰
  • After months of training, I finally finished a Financial Planning course on Coursera!
    Good job, self! 👩‍🎓
  • I was able to be a Table Topics Master in our club meeting in Toastmasters! I did a debate format, which is one of the challenging ones, and rarely done by the club, they said. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me to give it a try. This activity really stretched me out of my comfort zone. I got stressed, for sure, but the fulfillment afterwards was worth it. It gave me an opportunity to challenge and outdo myself. 🔥
  • My first payment from Intellifluence came in! 💰
  • This blog got included on Feedspot's top lifestyle blogs in the Philippines.
  • It was my first time to club hop on other Toastmaster clubs. I attended a club based in New Zealand, and even participated in Table Topics. 🤓
The New Zealand-based Toastmasters Club that I attended were already doing hybrid sessions, meaning some attendants are face-to-face in the same room, while others are in the Zoom virtual room.
  • I finally received my first dose of vaccine. 💉

🧠Game Changers
  • Drawing tablet. One of my long-time dreams is to have the skill to draw decently. I started this course on Figure Drawing (inspired by Al Alibdaal's goal). As a step towards this goal, I bought a drawing tablet so I could easily sketch digital art.
  • Joma Tech. I discovered this Youtube channel this month. I'm not really sure why I'm writing this under Game Changers. I just really love his content and I have already binge watched several of his videos. I think he's a really cool (and attractive 😊) guy. 😉
  • Radio Taiso. This is a kind of Japanese exercise that I discovered in the Ikigai book.
  • Water bottle with a straw. I don't know if this is a lifehack, but I noticed that I tend to drink more water when I use a straw. This is what I have been doing now. I use my metal straw for drinking water. It's also easier to have a water break while in a meeting. If the camera is on, I don't feel self-conscious sipping my water. 😁🥤
  • Only Fun: Chico and Gino podcast. I'm a huge fan of the Morning Rush radio show on RX 93.1, especially during that time that it was Del, Chico, and Gino who were boarding the show (my evidences: I went to their book signing, I also visited the booth, and also my entry got included in their TMR book 2). I am now a loyal listener of The Eve's Drop Podcast, where Del is. So I was so happy that Chico and Gino also launched their own podcast! Chichi and Gigi are back! My Rusher heart is happy. 🥰
  • Morning Ritual. Part of my "dress up" routine this month is this morning ritual that I followed, which starts extra early morning:

4:25 AM wake up, drink water
4:30 AM yoga + core workout
    5:00 AM meditate
5:30 AM shower + dress up for work
6:15 AM cook breakfast + eat
    7:00 AM start work

I felt so accomplished because at 7AM, I already achieved a lot and was already pumped up to start the day's work. It was fun trying this but after a month, I broke the cycle. 😅

💡 Takeaways
  • The teacher appears when the student is ready.
  • Trusting people is more of an opt-out decision, for me. I'll trust you until there's a reason not to.
  • It's not a good idea to drink when feeling emotional. Thanks Del for the reminder. 😶
  • It takes guts to admit, even to yourself, that you like a person.
  • Discomfort leads to growth.
